Creativaens Team Up with Filos & JGIS to Support Communities with Angbao

ANTIMICROBIAL & FSC CERTIFIED ANGBAO

Printed on antimicrobial-varnished paper, courtesy of OVOL Singapore, these antimicrobial red packets are the first of their kind in Singapore. The odour-free surface protective varnish eliminates bacteria, mould and viruses. In efforts to make a difference to the planet, we also took the step to consciously print the red packets on FSC® certified paper that were harvested in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.

In 2022, the efforts of Care For Each Otter were recognised by MARKies Awards, where the campaign was named a finalist in the Most Creative – COVID-19 Related Campaign category.

SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY WITH THE PURCHASE OF RED PACKETS
During 2022 Lunar New Year, Creativeans partnered with Filos Community Services, a not-for-profit social service organisation in Singapore, on a Care For Each Otter campaign. Filos empowers individuals and families to live more fulfilling, meaningful and happier lives. All proceeds from the red packet purchase go towards Filos and their beneficiaries.

During 2023 Lunar New Year, Creativeans partnered with Jane Goodall Institute (Singapore), a local chapter founded by Dr. Jane Goodall on a Care For Each Otter campaign. Jane Goodall Institute empowers people to make a difference for all living things. The campaign aimed to raise awareness to improve knowledge and foster positive attitudes towards wildlife in Singapore. The purchase of red packets supports and fund the cause of wildlife protection, ensuring the co-existential of humans and wildlife.
SYMBOLISM BEHIND THE DESIGN
We thoughtfully designed the red packets drawing inspiration from the Chinese idiom, “雨过天晴”, which means new hopes after a disastrous period which we believe is apt in the current climate. We depicted that through vivid and rich coloured illustrations of a family of otters coming out to play after a heavy storm. The family of 5 otters shown in the design symbolises “五福临门” which expresses the endless fortune streaming into homes and businesses. Otters are the unique embodiment of the Singaporean spirit; they symbolise togetherness, unity, and community. Likewise, for the past three years, we have all braved through these unprecedented times together as a community, tying back to the above-mentioned Chinese idiom.

A meaningful quote written specially by Creativeans’ director, Yulia Saksen’s mother, completes the design of the red packets. “春到人间福满堂, 海獭逢春尤其乐” translates to ‘Spring has come to welcome prosperity, good health and happiness. There is peace when otters meet the season.’ The last two words from each phrase can combine to form “滿堂其乐” which means ‘full-house’, signifying the warmth in unity during this festive new year.
POST CAMPAIGN

Care For Each Otter successfully concluded with the collective efforts of our partners and supporters. The campaign managed to raise awareness about helping the needy and protecting wildlife, making a positive impact on our local community.

 

Care For Each Otter garnered coverage, including features on media outlets, including Singapore’s largest Chinese-language newspaper, Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore’s digital content platform, Asia One, and Parenting Magazine, The New Age Parents.

 

Care For Each Otter was also delighted to have the public and local singer-songwriter, Yokez (@yokezofficial), to have supported the campaign.
